September Updates

News From nance

Why do I always say it?

I say, “As soon as things slow down…?”

Then they don’t!

So, it’s mid-September and I’m finally writing my September letter (Thanks for your patience). The last fair ended August 29th, and the boxes still aren’t unpacked and organized so we can inventory and prepare to order supplies for next year. That’s because Good News Clubs are getting started: 2 in September and more in October. That means forming teams, contracts, insurance, planning, curriculum orders, and nagging folks to get their compliance paperwork done.

Then there was the Summer Survival Celebration, which was a good time to rejoice in the many souls who heard the Gospel from a Child Evangelism Fellowship® worker at a 5-Day Club®, VBS, Good News Blitz, fair or festival over the summer: 5,376 to be precise. That brings our statistical year (September – August) total to 6,442. To God be the glory!

Which reminds me, HAPPY NEW YEAR! Our finances run on the calendar year, but our statistics do not, they run on the school calendar, and the Blitz ministry defies both and runs May to December. No wonder I’m no longer a brunette.

The following week (tonight, as I write), we have a Children’s Ministry Workshop with a guest speaker who will share ideas on understanding and working with children with developmental, cognitive, sensory, learning and processing needs. These skills are becoming more and more necessary.

Please pray for us, because next month, when things slow down, we need to write our strategic plan and budget for 2027, right after we get the fall newsletter out.

Rachel’s Report

Miami County and Darke County close out the summer fair season each year. Towards the end of the Darke County Fair, I had several meaningful Gospel conversations with kids that made me look forward to doing this again next summer. That was a sweet answer to prayer.

The first week of September, we had a “Summer Survival Celebration” where we shared the summer highlights and statistics. Then we opened the floor for sharing testimonies from the summer and ended with prayer for the children.

Our fall Children’s Ministry Workshop is in the second week of September. We’ll be hearing from a guest speaker about how to teach and support individuals with developmental, cognitive, sensory, learning, and processing needs. We’re also going to teach a way to share the Gospel using the EvangeCube. It’s popular at the fairs for talking with teenagers and adults because it feels more “grown-up” than a Wordless Book.

Now that we have shifted to the school year season, Good News Club® is a big focus. I’m helping to get teams organized and do the administrative work to get the clubs in the schools. Right now, I’m working on getting a team together to teach kids in Troy City Elementary Schools. We have clubs starting this month at Edison Elementary in Dayton, Roosevelt Elementary in Dayton, and Valley View Elementary in Germantown.

Praise the Lord:

  • For answered prayer through meaningful conversations at the fair

  • For 2025-2026 fair/festival ministry statistics being back to pre-covid numbers

Please pray for:

  • A full Good News Club team for Troy City Elementary Schools

  • More teams for Dayton Public Schools – they are very welcoming to Good News Club now
